All the while the same people will cry about "discoverability" but take "discoverability" into your own hands and they cry to. Like if paying $50 to have a bunch of Instagram pages post a clip of yours and advertise your page in the caption is what grows a channel I don't see the issue. Spend thousands on this PC, that monitor, a directional mic, lighting, 60fps webcam, etc., all that gets endorsed here but suggest spending some money on advertising and now you're a sell out of sorts who is crossing a line because your community is not "organic". Then the small streamers in this sub will literally shame the idea of spending money on advertising to grow a channel.

I will admit, in some cases for the OG streamers (Justin TV days) that may be true but the game has absolutely changed They just see Mizkif or Pokimane or NickMercs or whoever is big hop on stream and think if they just stream long enough eventually they'll blow up because in their heads that is how all those other people blew up. The small streamers don't know, see, or understand that though. I understand small streamers can't afford to hire a team, I can't either, but you need to treat the operation in the same manner. that's why they're so big, because they treat it like a legitimate entertainment company. Most people also don't realize that the big streamers/mid range streamer trying to get big will have an entire team behind them doing a TON of marketing/advertising work. It was even more ironic because they're the one that was looking for help with new viewers. they mocked me for suggesting they go to another platform to build Twitch viewers.
